One-Pot Italian Sausage Pasta

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb (450g) penne or rigatoni pasta

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 small onion, finely chopped

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 lb (450g) Italian sausage (mild or spicy, casings removed)

  • 1 tsp dried oregano

  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

  • 1 (28 oz) can crushed tomatoes

  • 3 cups chicken broth (or vegetable broth)

  • 1/2 cup heavy cream or half-and-half

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

  • Fresh basil or parsley for garnish


👩🍳 Instructions:

  1. Sauté Aromatics
    Heat your Nutri-Stahl 6 QT stockpot over medium heat.
    Add olive oil and sauté the onions until translucent (about 3-4 minutes).
    Add minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds more.

  2. Brown the Sausage
    Add the Italian sausage to the pot.
    Cook until browned and fully crumbled, about 6-8 minutes.
    Drain any excess grease if needed.

  3. Add Seasoning & Tomatoes
    Stir in oregano, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper.
    Pour in the crushed tomatoes and combine everything well.

  4. Add Pasta & Broth
    Add the dry pasta and chicken broth. Stir to ensure the pasta is submerged.
    Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and cover with the Nutri-Stahl lid.
    Simmer for 12-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the pasta is cooked and the sauce thickens.

  5. Finish with Cream & Cheese
    Stir in the cream, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheese.
    Cook uncovered for an additional 2-3 minutes until creamy and cheesy.

  6. Garnish & Serve
    Top with fresh basil or parsley and more Parmesan if desired.
